ACADEMICS

SCS serves children from Preschool through Grade 8. We are committed to academic excellence in the 4 “R’s” — Reading, Writing, Arithmetic and Reasoning and are consistently working to provide a biblically centered curriculum. SCS is committed to partnering with parents to meet the individual need of each student. SCS is also committed to providing enrichment in cultural arts which may include foreign language, art, music, library time, and PE. Technology is integrated into the core subject areas. 

Math

Our math courses are designed to help students develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and the skills necessary for success in higher-level mathematics and real-world applications. Through a combination of direct instruction, hands-on activities, and real-world problems, students will build proficiency in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and more. The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, problem solving, and logical reasoning, and provides students with the tools they need to tackle increasingly complex mathematical challenges.

Reading

Reading at Sandpoint Christian School is designed to help students develop a love for reading and an appreciation for the power of language. Through the study of classic and contemporary literature, students will explore the human experience, broaden their perspectives, and develop critical thinking skills. The curriculum emphasizes the analysis of literary elements, such as plot, character, theme, and symbolism, as well as the study of grammar, composition, and creative writing.

History

This class is designed to give students a well-rounded understanding of the world, with a focus on God's perspective. Through interactive lessons and real-world applications, students will explore geography, history, economics, government, and culture, and learn how these subjects are interconnected. The curriculum will emphasize the importance of character education and responsible citizenship, helping students develop a sense of purpose and the skills they need to make a positive impact in society.

Science

Through hands-on experimentation, observation, and inquiry, students will explore the natural world and discover the principles of physics, biology, chemistry, and earth science. The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, problem solving, and scientific inquiry, and provides students with a solid foundation in the scientific method. In addition to learning about the physical world, students will also explore the intersection of science and faith, and how a biblical worldview informs our understanding of the natural world.

Art

Develop problem solving skills, refine motor skills and build self-confidence. A variety of art activities provide hands on creative experience that create a project for students to bring home. Students will explore the world of fine arts through hands -on practice and captivating lessons in art history. Young artists will unleash their imagination while gaining a deeper appreciation for artistic traditions.

Physical Education

Physical Education at Sandpoint Christian School is designed to help students develop physical literacy and a lifelong love for physical activity. Through a variety of games and activities, students will learn the skills necessary for a variety of sports, including soccer, basketball, volleyball, and more. The curriculum emphasizes the development of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship, and provides students with the opportunities to challenge themselves and develop a healthy, active lifestyle.

Music

Music at Sandpoint Christian School is a vibrant and engaging learning experience for students from preschool through grade 8. The class is designed to foster a love of music while providing a solid foundation in music theory, history, and performance.
 

Students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of musical styles and will learn rhythm and note reading. Our fifth through eighth graders are part of either handbell choir or orchestra and have performances at least twice a year. You will be amazed at the learning that happens in just one year.
